 Prayers for peace 

Prayers for peace just miss the point 

God will not jump in to save the innocent 

Centuries of war are clear on this 

Tyrants don’t retire, they must be hounded out.  

Don’t mistake this war for a fight

Between two nations. Not at all.  

The Russians who know this are upset

The others know nothing at all. 

The world must gather strength

Hold its nerve against the tyrant

Who respects no words or prayers

But simply strength and power. 

The time will come when incense flows

In golden basilicas in Kyiv and Moscow

But first the madman must be stopped 

And then can reconciliation start. 

He’ll kill you in your churches

While you kneel at prayer

Knowing well that God and NATO

Are helpless now to save you. 

We have no right to tell them

They must not defend their homes 

We have no right to tell them

To die while lying down their arms. 

Let’s save our sermons for ourselves

Who have the chance to attend a service 

Only because others lay their lives

To save our pious skins. 

We herby denounce the war

And the horrors brought about

By Putin and his mindless thugs

We shall not rest until they stop. 

And stop they must, not us

Who shall not tire or lose heart. 

Our fight is noble, we are the arms

Of a God who weeps in silence.
